THE BOOKS
I am starting a new series today that tells the story about the Guardians. This series is written from the perspective of the main character, Nikkei, the first Guardian.

Nikkei: The First Guardian
ISBN-978-1728674254
I was a 15 year old slave on a planet named Enbero when they came down from the sky like angels. They purchased a thousand of us and took us to an ice world where they cut us apart… At first, I thought they didn’t understand that we felt pain when they operated on us. Later, I learned that they depended on our pain to wire our new cybernetic brains into state of the art combat chassis. Six months into this torture, Lady Amiel told me, “Yesterday’s operation was the last… You will remember everything from now on… for all eternity in absolute digital clarity… Nikkei, you are the first Guardian.

Nikkei: Journal 1; Hailide
ISBN-978-1693381225

This is the first of the accompanying character journals for the Nikkei series novels. It tells the story of Hailide throughout the 15 millennia long Great War the novels are centered around. Hailide was born a slave and grew up working on his master’s sheep farm. This journal starts when Hailide wakes up in the Guardians’ resurrection machine and finds out that he is now a machine himself. Even that didn’t go as expected, Hailide soon found himself in a battle for his very life. Hailide meets Nikkei for the first time and falls hopelessly in love. While he’s still 16 years old, Hailide is promoted to fleet commander after a series of experimental and dangerous neural downloads. Trained as an officer, he starts overseeing the training of his men and preparing his fleet. All too soon the unprepared Guardians are deployed to Tengal. This journal tells his side to that massacre and his fight for survival. Hailide soon found himself embroiled in a war that drug on for longer than was ever thought possible. This story spans the entire Great War and gives us a tantalizing look at his rise as a commander and some of the battles he fought. It culminates at the end of the Great War when Hailide finally returns to Delphine with his beaten and battered fleets. The reality that it’s finally over and the loss of so many Guardians overwhelms Hailide as he returns home, only to find a broken Nikkei…

Calley’s story started on her pollution ridden home world of Kendral. She was 14 years old when a strange government scientist asked her to join the gifted program. Calley thought it was a way to escape her fate, only to find out it started her on an odyssey she never expected. In a world of government corruption, Calley’s mind was changed forever as she fought to save her people. Only Calley didn’t count on what she found in the crystal on Taowan. She never counted on becoming a Guardian. She never expected to become their lead scientist or to make a break through that changes everything. Calley is thrown into the Guardians’ war with a damaged mind as she struggled to remember her people and the promise she made to save them.
Note: This is a companion story journal to Nikkei; The First Guardian. This does not contain the center section of her story which is contained in the full-length novel. They are best read together.

Nikkei: Journal 3; Cassie
ISBN-978-1693381720
“She’s a locomotive running on pure adrenaline and dozens of other chemicals meant to make her unstoppable! All her systems are at overload status, she has removed all of her limiters and safeties, both mechanical and biological. She cannot feel pain or emotions like remorse or empathy. You took a girl, and pushed her to become the killing machine you seen in her! Then you want me to fix her!”, CeCe yelled, “I don’t even know if Cassie is even alive! You shot her in the head, possibly destroying that girl! You can’t kill something that’s already dead! The combat AI that is controlling her now was a last resort weapon meant to stop the Rav! If an Ancient is threatened and the Guardian is incapacitated, their body fights on to protect us! The AI doesn’t care about morals, it has no conscience! It can see in complete darkness and through walls. It has the strength of 30 men and speed unmatched by anything you’ve ever heard of. It is a weapons and explosives expert. Even your military doesn’t have combat operators that can match this AI. Her body is built like a tank! She doesn’t get tired or need to sleep when the AI is active. She was a girl, you caused her to become the new alpha predator on this planet. The AI will simply kill everything that crosses its path! It will practice asymmetrical warfare, whittling away at your defenses until it topples all opposition and lays everything to waste. You cannot fight it and win. You cannot run far enough or fast enough to escape it. They can track you by scent or hear you breathing from miles away. There is no place to hide from a Guardian’s advanced sensors. You are all going to die…” CeCe almost laughed, everything she said wasn’t exactly true, but Advare didn’t know that… CeCe was trying to make a point to Advare…

Nikkei: Crystalized
ISBN-979-8695868951
“I was not referring to your death. I know not of that. I do know you will be wounded and killed countless times in this war. You will bleed rivers of blood and suffer more than anyone should ever be put through. When you think it is over, that is when the real torture begins. When I look into your future, Nikkei, I want to cry…”, Kessaiya told her. She said it without any emotion. It sounded cold, almost like a list one would make of chores that needed done. Nikkei felt Kessaiya force her mind to stop thinking about Nikkei’s future. Kessaiya’s premonition of Nikkei’s future scared them both. Nikkei tried to pull herself together, to calm her mind. The first thought that crossed her mind after she calmed down was the question, ‘Who was going to die?’

Nikkei: Journal 5; Amiel
ISBN-979-8522530358
Amiel was a junior researcher when the unimaginable happened. A massive Ravian fleet showed up in system and quickly headed toward the small research station where she worked. Amiel and her team had stayed behind to close down experiments, but were abandoned as the massive Ravian fleet closed in. Their last hope disappeared as the battleship sent to recover the scientists jumped away. The Rav quickly boarded the station and interrogated Amiel’s team, killing many of them. Then, the Rav started eating the others. However, this was not Amiel’s end, it was just the beginning of her story…
Enbrious’ torture of Amiel on the research station and her subsequent rescue by the Archangel Michael changed her forever and started her on her life’s mission. An eternity passed before Amiel could build the Guardians; but in that time, Amiel never forgot what the Rav, her own species, and the Union Cadre had done to her. She grew sick of their evil, corruption, greed, and the subsequent wars they caused. Amiel made plans as she worked with relief agencies to help refugees that were caught up in the various wars that were tearing the Union apart. One day, Amiel was given control of a super soldier development program that was to use slave kids for the experiment.
Amiel found herself setting up a base for the Guardians and quickly became drawn into their war as an old enemy showed up. Amiel witnessed the rise of her Guardians; every breakthrough they developed from their Forced Fusion Reactors to their Raptors. She helped crystalize the Guardians to give them an advantage against the Rav. Amiel watched as her children grew into something, she never expected…

Nikkei: Angel Fall
ISBN-979-8767382248
The stage is set and a real monster is coming for the Guardians. Their base on Delphine has been destroyed, overrun by the Ravian Overlords. Everywhere across the base and the Delphine system, Guardians are fighting for their lives. Shireolyn has arrived with his massive battleship and escort fleet. This overlord has armies at his disposal and they’ve laid waste to the Guardians’ star fleet and isolated the system by blocking communications and establishing an anti FTL field, allowing no one in. Small pockets of resistance are all that’s left, but not all hope is lost. The last Guardian strike fleets are in bound to the Delphine system. Nikkei’s new tactical officer, that she left in charge of her fleets, hatches a daring plan that placed the Keylone, Nikkei’s command ship, in jeopardy, but if they succeed in breaching Shireolyn’s battleship’s defenses, can they ever dare to hope that they can destroy such a massive war ship? Will Katherine, Nikkei’s chief engineer, save the Keylone when she falls from the sky after her attack?
Meanwhile, a lone scientist barricades himself in the underground chamber that holds his lifelong project. He brings the massive collider core online and uses his new prototype resolutioner to help the Guardians by resupplying them with ammo and water. He uses this prototype transporter to save several of the high-rise lab buildings from collapsing. He starts saving the base by making spot repairs until he hears a noise way down in the core… a noise that sends a shiver down his spine… he is not alone in this chamber…
Shireolyn desperately attacks Delphine, killing everyone that crosses his invasion forces’ path. Nikkei watches her friends dying and makes a decision to activate a last strike weapon she and the Ancients created decades before. Only the number of dead involved in this spell has grown beyond anything Nikkei could have imagined back then. Will Nikkei survive the incantations to raise her army of the dead? Will the reanimated Guardians be able to stand against Shireolyn’s overlords? Will anyone survive this all-out war?

Nikkei: Journal 6; Unknown Sniper
ISBN-979-8409246815
He was one of the first Guardians to be called ‘sniper’. On his first mission, his dropship crashed and he used his skills to defend the wounded in his squad. The lieutenant that led their rescue mission found him killing the Sentarolin that had attacked them after the crash. This act of valor got him noticed; but to him, he was just one of the few lucky ones that could still fight. He never tried to be a hero, he just wanted to save his friends. That night, the legend of the Unknown Sniper was born. The lieutenant embellished the tale and refused to reveal who the sniper was because he wanted to give those gathered around the campfire hope. Over the centuries, the Unknown Sniper tried to live up to the stories that seemed to grow more outlandish as the years passed because he too wanted to give everyone hope.
He was promoted and placed in charge of the new recon sniper program. This new posting kept him busy, splitting his time between the field and overseeing the program. All the while, his legend continued to grow out of control, as did his efforts to live up to his reputation. Everyone tried to find out who the Unknown Sniper really was; they guessed and speculated, but it only fanned the flames of his legend. The other snipers all knew who he was; but they kept everyone guessing, all while adding to the legend themselves. Everything the other snipers did that was good, they attributed to the Unknown Sniper.
As time went by, everyone that was in his original company was killed in action. He lost all of his friends, everyone that he loved, and became reluctant to forge new friendships. With new technology came more capabilities and longer shots. His legend continued to grow until he couldn’t live up to it any longer. He died fighting to save the evacuees from a mining colony, even that did not stop his legend from growing even further. In the end, Nikkei helped him fulfill his last wish to make one last sacrifice… to help the Guardians not lose hope. They say legends never die, but sometimes, they are not allowed to die because the loss would just hurt too much…

Nikkei: Journal 7; To Be Sovereign
ISBN-979-8804229529
HF had always found history fascinating; he found the Union’s erasure of history even more so. It made him question everything, so when he found archeological sites with the special crystal from Taowan spread throughout the universe, it was an enigma he could not resist. During his research, he uncovered many secrets that led him to mistrust the Ancients, the Cadre, and the Union itself. He found proof of an ancient war where the Ancients fought against what was believed to be true angels. One day, he found Bethany and the repository of knowledge buried in the catacombs beneath. It changed his life forever; he was transported to an impossible planet and found an old fisherman on the shores of an underground lake, a black lake with stars, nebulae, and galaxies in the water that gave off immense psionic power. HF realized that this unassuming fisherman was God and that the Lord had big plans for him and the Guardians.
It was never his intention to become Sovereign, he just never objected when he was chosen. To HF’s surprise, he won the election… he was suddenly in charge of everything Guardian. He was Sovereign; however, this confirmed Calley’s visions… she would now die at the end of the Great War. HF endeavors to prevent this, or at least to come to terms with his wife’s death as he battles the Ancients’ Council of Elders for control of the Guardian Program.
He took over where Nikkei had left off and readied the Guardians for the first of the Ravian Overlords. HF failed and died fighting Shireolyn. Upon his resurrection, HF not only had to face rebuilding the Guardians, but he was forced to come to terms with the fact that he was not strong enough or had faith enough to defeat the first overlord. HF was forced to face his fears as he fought to keep the Guardians alive and in the fight through nearly 15 millennia of the Great War. This is his story, how he proved to not only himself but to all of the Guardians once and for all that he was worthy to be Sovereign.
